World Leather Congress – 29 August 2017, Shanghai
Following the success of the World Leather Congresses in 2011 (Rio de Janeiro) and 2015 (Milan), Mr Richard Pai – President of the International Council of Tanners (ICT) and of the Taiwanese International Leather Association (TILA) wishes to invite everyone to the third Congress to be held in Shanghai on 29 August 2017, at the Pullman Hotel, Shanghai South.
The theme of the Congress will be “The Leather Revolution” – recognising the profound changes that will be taking place throughout the leather marketing chain over the next 20 years, and focussing on how the industry should be responding.
The Congress will be organised by the co-hosts – TILA and the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) – under the broad banner of, the ICT with APLF as Founding Sponsor and Moda Pelle as principal media partners. The organising committee also recognises and welcomes the co-operation with World Trades Publishing, the publishers of the journal “World Leather.”
Each Congress represents an opportunity to remind everyone of the important part the leather industry plays in international business, the major changes taking place and the enormous steps that the industry has made in demonstrating its technical expertise, its social and environmental responsibility and its sustainability.
It is particularly relevant that this third World Leather Congress is being held in China, because China and the surrounding countries have proved, in recent years, to be the most important and most dynamic region in the World for the production of leather and leather products. And it is this region that will play an important role in driving future changes in the industry.
